Fried Cauliflower Rice with Hijiki

2018.12.09

This dish takes the traditionally Japanese-style hijiki and gives it a Western twist by adding cauliflower rice and bacon. The texture of the cauliflower rice adds a nice accent, making this a dish enjoyable even for those who aren’t fond of hijiki. (Ingredients for two people)

Veggie Maria Cauliflower rice 100g
Hijiki(dried) 5g
Bacon(half size) 4 Slices
Butter 5g
A Soy Sauce Tbsp 2/3
A Cooking sake Tbsp 1/2
Salt and Pepper Appropriate amount

Preparation

  • Thaw the frozen cauliflower rice in the microwave. Rehydrate the hijiki in water. Cut the bacon into approximately 1 cm widths.
  • Heat oil (not included in the ingredients) in a frying pan, then add bacon and cauliflower rice to sauté. Once the bacon is cooked, add hijiki and Ingredients A, and stir-fry over medium heat until the moisture evaporates.
  • Once the moisture has evaporated, reduce the heat, add butter, and stir-fry until it melts. Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste.
